THANKS FROM ALL THE STUDENTS, STAFF AND FAMILIES OF PASTEUR!

Dear Marcy,

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that we received a great essay and application for a sholarship from a Pasteur alum, a Cass Tech student who is on the National Honor Society and will attend U-M in the fall. In her essay she credits her love of education with her experiences at Pasteur.

The bad news is that we have children who will attend summer school because they are far behind. We have some first graders who cannot read because this was their first year in a school.
We need YOU (and a friend?) to come and play word games (which we will supply) to children who need help  learning to read! Easy and fun!
We don't have enough alumni tutors, but they all say they love the kids and love the hugs. Carol Winokur goes three times a week and notices how receptive the kids are to the positive reinforcement and attention. The children we've helped show definite improvement!
Dr. Joe Kaplan is tutoring three 5th graders every Monday! Ms. Webster gives him direction as to what to teach the students. "I enjoy the kids and find the work sometimes surprisingly sophisticated in the text book they are using. Last week it was all about the scientific method-- observation, hypothesis, data collection, and even statistics."
We will highlight more or our wonderful tutors in June!
You too CAN make a difference in the life of a child!

PROMOTION CEREMONY

June 18 - 10am at PASTEUR

Wonder what our 6th graders are like? Want to meet the students who went to see "The Diary of Ann Frank?" It's always a joy to watch this ceremony!

Please join us at Pasteur to welcome our youngest alumni and present them with a beautiful dictionary.

We want to thank all the volunteers who gave their time and spoke on CAREER DAY. The feedback was so positive! Everyone had a great time!

From Bob Koenigsknecht, retired principal of a Utica school:

"The staff was very friendly, caring and enthusiastic and it was a joy to work with the children. You are to be complimented and praised for all the work you do to continue a strong tradition of excellence at Pasteur Elementary."

Linda Alpiner Schwartz, Dr. Joel Appel, Pam Armstrong Radzinski, Judith Calfin Schneider, Linda Cohen, Leon Coleman, Howard Davis, Elaine Fieldman, Nate Goldberg, Michael James, Barbara Finsilver Kaplan, David Horton Bob Koenigsknecht, Elizabeth Kutlov Gulick, Cathy Radner, Dr. Stuart Rankin, Tom Rollins, Don Santilli, Susan Solomon Kay, Gaye Tischler, Henry Wineman II, David Winokur, Gilda Zalenko Jacobs.

AND IN THE MIDDLE OF CAREER DAY DEBORAH MEISNER STEIN CALLED FROM HILLEL DAY SCHOOL. THEY HAD LOTS OF LITTLE CHAIRS, DESKS AND FILE CABINETS TO DONATE. DID WE WANT THEM? HOWARD DAVIS AND I RENTED A U-HAUL AND PASTEUR ENGINEER MR. OMAN AND THE 6TH GRADE BOYS UNLOADED OUR TREASURE!

EVERYTHING IS A TEAM EFFORT AND WE HAVE A GREAT TEAM!

Sincerely,

 Marcy Feldman
