NO CAREER DAY

We did not have Career Day this year because we were busy planning Simply Smart Kids over a 4 week period.
Watch for it next year.

PASTEUR GARDEN

Many thanks to alum Eric Lipson, of Ann Arbor, who is working this year again with our science teacher Ms. King on the vegetable garden outside behind the science room. Life Member and consummate tutor Patrick Hoye is working with them. Come see!

SUMMER IN THE CITY

Summer in the City came on Thursday, June 9 to give all the students a preview of fun activities that will take place on the playground this summer! They will take the summer school students on field trips each Friday. After summer session ends Camp Pasteur begins! We pay Summer in the City to provide 2 weeks of day camp which includes breakfast and lunch.
All of this is provided by our giving alumni!

Dear Marcy,

Thank you so much for supporting our work! We could not do all these amazing projects without you! Look at our busy Spring and Summer!

6th GRADE PROMOTION - A GIFT OF TABLETS!
Join us this Monday at 1pm!

The Board of Directors decided on a new gift this year that will be more helpful than dictionaries. Our kids deserve to have the same opportunities as their suburban counterparts in technology and education. On June 13 we gave 39 students a certificate at Promotion good for an Amazon Kindle Fire tablet. The tablet will be given to the students at Pasteur this Monday, June 27 at 1 pm at a workshop. Fellows from Repair the World will train our students on how to download not only books, but educational apps to help them with math, writing and other skills. If you would like to meet the students and help give the tablets out please join us.

SIMPLY SMART KIDS PROGRAM - May, 2016

With your help and a $1,060 grant from Women's Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation and Bookstock we were able to partner with Simply Smart Kids for a parenting program which met 4 times. The parents loved it and learned how to teach their children better communication skills. This program explains to the parents that they are their children's first and most important teacher. They had hours of training and were given books, toys, book bags and t-shirts. The parents learned how to  engage the children in discussions. Feedback from parents was extremely positive!
Many thanks to alum Berna Friedman Ravitz and her Simply Smart Kids' educators Diane Hanaway and Stacey Mollison for donating their time and energy.
More thanks go to volunteers who served dinner and watched the little kids: Marcy & Michael Feldman, Fran Gross, Richard Holmes, Paula Kalt, Cary Levy, Debbie Manning, Tomeka Munford, Carol Rosenfeld, Bonnie Sowa, Deborah Terrell and Wendy Wagenheim.

HILLEL DAY SCHOOL 8th GRADERS VISIT

June 9, 2016

Thanks to Hillel Day School for sending their 8th graders (fresh off their trip to Israel!) to bring about 1,000 books for our school and students!
Ben Falik of Repair the World brought fellows to do fun activities with our 2nd and 6th graders on a Friday morning.

Above: Partners shared their stories. Note the similar taste in shoes and the crates and boxes of books on the stage! Lots of students hugged goodbye at the end!
